The short version. Trovee collects what it needs to show you sales near you and let you talk to the people running them. We do not sell your data. We do not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising network in Trovee, and no analytics company watching you use it.
Trovee is operated by [YOUR LEGAL NAME OR COMPANY] ("Trovee", "we", "us"), [YOUR ADDRESS]. If you have a question about this policy or about your data, write to [email protected].
You sign in with your Google account or with Sign in with Apple. Google or Apple tells us your email address and your name, nothing else, and never your password. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your real email address; Apple then gives us a relay address instead. We never see, receive or store your password.
Whatever you choose to add: display name, bio, pronouns, languages, profile photo, banner image, featured photos, and your city or region. All of this is optional except a display name, and all of it is visible to other members.
With your permission, Trovee uses your device's precise location to centre the map on where you are and to work out how far away each sale is. You can refuse this permission, or switch it off later in Trovee under Settings → This device → Location access. If you do, distances are measured from the centre of the map instead and the app keeps working.
If you post a garage, yard, estate or moving sale, you give us the street address so buyers can come to it. Publishing a sale makes that address public — that is the point of it. Marketplace item listings are different: they publish only an approximate area, never a street address.
Photos you upload to listings, your profile, or a conversation. We strip EXIF metadata from every photo on upload, so the GPS coordinates and camera details your phone embeds are removed before the image is stored.
The content of messages and any photos you send, stored so that you and the person you are talking to can both read the conversation.
When you report a listing, a member or a conversation, we record what was reported, what you told us, and who reported it, so we can act on it.
Which listings you save, which you hide, and view counts. View counts are recorded per day so a listing is not counted twice for the same person.
Trovee is free to use. If you subscribe to Trovee Plus or Trovee Pro, we record only whether your subscription is active, which plan you are on, when it renews or ends, and how many Featured boosts you have. Payment is handled entirely by Apple, and we never see your card number. RevenueCat, a subscription service, tells our servers when Apple reports a purchase, renewal or cancellation.
If you dictate a message, speech is converted to text on your device. The audio is not sent to Trovee and is not stored.
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosting, database, file storage, authentication |
| Sign-in. Google confirms who you are and shares your name and email address with us. | |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple: confirms who you are and shares your name and email (or a relay address) with us. |
| Mapbox | Map tiles and address lookup. Mapbox's own usage telemetry is switched off in Trovee. |
| Apple | App distribution and all subscription payments |
| RevenueCat | Tells our servers whether your subscription is active |
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where we genuinely believe it is necessary to prevent harm to someone.
In Trovee: Settings → Account → Delete my account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. It is immediate and permanent.
Deleting removes your profile, your sales and item listings, your photos, your messages, your saves and your reviews. As explained above, reports you filed survive with your identity removed. The same email address can register again afterwards as a brand-new account with none of the old content.
You can access and correct most of your information directly in the app, and you can delete your account at any time. If you want a copy of your data, or you want us to do any of this on your behalf, write to [email protected].
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR or the CCPA — including the right to object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local regulator. We honour these requests regardless of where you live.
Trovee is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to listings, messages and profiles is enforced at the database level, so a member can only read what they are entitled to read. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we treat your messages and your address as the sensitive things they are.
Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. If you use Trovee from elsewhere, your information is transferred and processed there.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app.
